Big Texan is taking its legendary 72 oz steak challenge on the road for the Texas Route 66 Festival Finale.

On June 13, 2026, the 72 OZs on Route 66 Challenge brings Amarillo’s most famous meal straight to the Route 66 Historic District. Eight brave competitors will step up for their shot at glory. The rules are simple and serious. Finish the 72 ounce steak and all the fixings within the time limit and earn your place in Mother Road history.

Crowds are encouraged to gather, cheer, and witness every bite. It is bold, it is beefy, and it is pure Texas showmanship right in the heart of Sixth Avenue.
